A vast land, divided between Chile and Argentina, where majestic mountains, glaciers, crystal-clear lakes, and endless steppes create some of the most spectacular landscapes on the planet.
Here nature reigns supreme and man becomes a simple observer of a wild, remote and still untouched environment.
The wildlife of Patagonia
Patagonia is a true paradise for nature photography, thanks to the extraordinary variety of species that populate its environments.
Along the coasts, you can encounter elephant seals, sea lions, sea lions, Commerson’s dolphins, and large colonies of penguins. Herds of guanacos roam the vast inland plains, while large predators include pumas and killer whales, renowned for their spectacular hunting techniques along the coasts of the Valdés Peninsula.
A unique territory, where every encounter with wildlife becomes an opportunity to narrate nature through photography.
Between coasts, glaciers and legendary mountains
The journey crosses some of the most iconic landscapes of Argentine Patagonia, from the coasts of the South Atlantic to the mountains of the Andes.
From the Playa Unión area to the Valdés Peninsula, a privileged habitat for numerous marine species, the route continues towards El Calafate and El Chaltén, where the Perito Moreno Glacier, the Fitz Roy massif, and Los Glaciares National Park offer unforgettable views.
Excursions and trekking allow you to explore these extraordinary environments up close, offering numerous opportunities for landscape and nature photography.

Days 1-2
The Journey
Departure from Italy, airport of participants’ choice. Intercontinental flight and overnight stay on board. Arrival at Buenos Aires Pistarini International Airport in the morning. Quick transfer to Jorge Newbery Airport for the afternoon domestic flight to Trelew (2 hours).
Arrival in Trelew, vehicle pickup. Transfer to our hotel in Trelew or Playa Union. Dinner on the beach with a sunset over the ocean. Overnight stay in Trelew or surrounding area.
Day 3
Punta Tombo: The Penguin People
A full day dedicated to Punta Tombo, the reserve home to one of the largest and most spectacular Magellanic penguin colonies in the world. We’ll have plenty of time for slow, thoughtful photography sessions, seeking out original compositions among thousands of nests. In the afternoon, guided by Daniele’s experience, we’ll continue with photographic explorations along the coast in search of local wildlife, taking advantage of the best lighting conditions and current sightings. Overnight stay in Playa Union/Puerto Rawson.
Day 4
Safari Blu and Tonina Overa
A day dedicated to the dynamics of the ocean. We’ll embark at Playa Union for a nautical safari aimed at spotting Commerson’s Dolphin (Tonina Overa), famous for its black and white color. Daniele will organize the day based on the best safari times, integrating the sea outing with other “secret” photo opportunities he knows intimately, ensuring an intense and unexpected experience. Overnight at Playa Union/Puerto Rawson.
Days 5-6-7
Peninsula Valdés: The Theater of Life
Transfer to Peninsula Valdés (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). We enter the sanctuary of Southern Right Whales, large birds of prey, and an incredible variety of land fauna (guanacos, foxes, armadillos). We’ll stay in Puerto Piramides, the beating heart of the reserve, to easily navigate the bays and cliffs.
Three days of pure exploration: in addition to public lookouts, we’ll track elephant seals along the peninsula’s most remote beaches. Guided by Daniele’s experience, we’ll study the tides and terrain to seek out encounters with these ocean giants in their wildest habitat. Overnight stay in Puerto Piramides.
Day 8
Flight to Ushuaia: The Edge of the World
We leave the central coast and fly south to Ushuaia, in Tierra del Fuego. Here, the Andes merge into the ocean. We’ll have our first contact with the southernmost city in the world, a place steeped in myth and unique photo opportunities, suspended between snow-capped peaks and glacial waters. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Days 9-10
The Beagle Channel and the Secrets of Isla Martillo
Two days dedicated to navigating the Beagle Channel and exploring the land. We’ll visit lighthouses and sea lion colonies, but the real highlight will be Isla Martillo: a sanctuary where, in addition to Magellanic penguins, we’ll be able to document Gentoo penguins and, with the right amount of luck, the imposing King Penguin. Daniele will help us capture the soul of these places at the end of the world. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Days11-12
Come back in
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Buenos Aires and the connecting flight to Italy (arriving the following day), and end of fieldwork.
The journey concludes, but the images collected will remain as a testament to the indomitable strength of Patagonia.

Who is it aimed at?
The trip is aimed at photographers of all levels.
From the novice photographer eager to learn and share their passion, to the experienced professional who perhaps doesn’t have a deep knowledge of the destination and wants to rely on someone who can guarantee a unique experience and bring home unique images.
Equipment
The recommended lenses are:

70-200mm to ensure brightness in poor lighting conditions and for subjects that are not far away.

from 300mm up to 800mm for distant subjects, environmental subjects and for close-up and detailed portraits.

A wide-angle lens for landscapes and for documenting activities: the jeep in the jungle, crops, local markets, etc.
Overnight stay
- Overnight stays in superior tourist-category facilities (hotels, lodges, villas)
- Accommodation in a shared room with a private bathroom. NOTE: Single travelers requesting a shared room are subject to availability and the ability to find a companion.
On this trip, the tour leader is available to share accommodation with one participant.
Transportation
All transportation and transfers will be carried out by internal flights, taxis, vans, minivans, minibuses and jeeps provided by the organization.
Climate, documents and useful advice
Patagonia’s climate is cold, windy, and highly variable, characterized by notable differences between the coast, the Andes, and the inland steppe, as well as by the inversion of the seasons compared to the Northern Hemisphere.
Main features
- The wind: A constant throughout the territory, often very strong especially during the summer season.
- Western slope (Andes and Pacific): Cold and very humid climate, with abundant rainfall and dense forests.
- Eastern Steppe (Atlantic/Interior): Arid, cool, semi-desert climate with little rainfall.
- Tierra del Fuego (South): Cold oceanic climate, with average temperatures that rarely exceed 15°C even in summer and frequent sudden changes (sudden rain or snow).
Temperatures and seasons

Southern Summer (December – March): This is the best time to visit. Average daytime temperatures range between 15°C and 20/22°C, with very long days (up to 16-17 hours of daylight).

Southern Winter (June – August): Cold and harsh period, with average temperatures between -2°C and 5°C, heavy snowfall and closure of many trails or tourist facilities.
Entry requirements
To enter Argentina as an Italian tourist, you need a valid passport, a return ticket, and medical insurance.
No visa is required for stays of up to 90 days.
