Morocco is an incredibly photogenic country, with many unique facets. The main challenge in a photography journey here is to capture all these dimensions without losing the essence of photography. From vibrant cities and bustling markets, to desert landscapes where camel drivers and tourists create evocative scenes, to the natural beauty of deserts, oases and mountains, every glimpse offers extraordinary opportunities for your photography. Despite mass tourism, Morocco is a gold mine for those looking for authenticity in photography. I offer you a unique experience, a journey that will lead you to discover Morocco and its cultures.

We will depart from Fes, heading north towards the wonderful blue city of Chefchaouen. Then, we will descend south to Merzouga, in the desert, to enjoy its unique light and surreal nights. We will cross mountains and canyons to arrive in Marrakech, an emblematic city. But the most significant element of our trip will be meeting the people of Morocco, so expressive and interesting. Despite the challenges of humanistic photography, I have always put empathy and respect at the center of my meetings with people, obtaining in exchange the collaboration and availability necessary for authentic and valuable shots.

The month chosen for the trip is April, just after Ramadan, with pleasantly warm weather and long days offering countless photographic opportunities. I will always be by your side to guide and assist you in creating your photography portfolio. These 10 days will be intense, full of unforgettable moments for photography, offering a unique experience. Our participants will be connected with me via a dedicated WhatsApp group, and afterwards, we will organize a photo review session via Zoom, to review your shots together and receive valuable technical advice. I hope you will join us on this extraordinary photographic journey, ready to capture the soul and beauty of Morocco through your photographs.

Day 2

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will leave in the direction of Chefchaoun (more simply called Chaouen), the blue city. Founded in 1471, it is located in the cavity between two mountains. Chaouen is considered a “holy city“. The old part of the city has a very similar appearance to that of Andalusian villages, with narrow and steep streets with white and indigo plaster buildings, small squares, beautifully decorated fountains and houses with richly embellished doors , together with the red tile roofs, where the light filters from above creating spectacular plays of light.
The day will be entirely dedicated to the “blue city”. Dinner and overnight in Chefchaoun.

Day 3

After breakfast we will leave in the direction of Fès. Along the way, a photo stop at the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO world heritage site. Volubilis was founded by the Carthaginians in the 3rd century BC. and dominated by the Romans from 40 AD. until the arrival of the Berbers in 280 AD. The Roman ruins are truly evocative and lend themselves well to being photographed even in broad daylight. Nearby, we will visit the holy city of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, where Muslims can go on pilgrimage, instead of Mecca: the city is modern, but the visit to the mosque offers opportunities of photographic interest. Overnight stay in Fez

Day 4

Day entirely dedicated to the photographic visit of Fès. Fez radiates a singular aura. It is the Imperial, the repository of thirteen centuries of Moroccan history. Through the Bab Boujloud gate we will enter the walls of the medina (UNESCO site). We will walk through the streets of the Fez-El-Bali neighborhood, finding with me infinite points of photographic interest among the crowded streets and squares, among the children playing and the women intent on shopping at the market. Overnight stay in Riad.

Day 5

Early in the morning we will leave Fès for a long but exciting transfer to the desert. Along the way we will make several stops: the first stop will be AZROU, a town of Berber origin, located on a limestone plateau bordered by cedar and holm oak forests. Subsequently we will cross the Middle Atlas up to the Zad pass and the town of MIDELT (the city of apples), and then continue through the beautiful ZIZ GORGES, until we arrive at ER-RACHIDIA, in the southern province, a green oasis in the orange rock canyon. Subsequently we will arrive at ERFOUD, the gateway to the desert and from here to MERZOUGA, where the dromedaries will be waiting for us and will lead us to our Berber style tented camp. Dinner and overnight stay in a tented camp. Night photography session in the desert.

Day 6

Sunrise photography session among the desert dunes. After breakfast we will return to Merzouga by dromedary. Once on board our vehicle we will cross the hamada (black desert), in the direction of the city of Rissani where the lively local market takes place, which we will visit on market day (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday).
We will then continue in the direction of the impressive Todra canyon: we will pass through the narrow gorges that let the light filter from above, creating beautiful photographic suggestions. Stop for lunch. Subsequently we will resume the journey along the impressive road of the Thousand Kasbahs, enclosed in a narrow gorge with the road going up and down “in a gut” and dotted with large fortresses on both sides of the road. Numerous photo stops.
Dinner and overnight stay in Dades.

Day 7

After breakfast we will leave Dades and move to the Draa Valley: the landscape softens, the oases are numerous in a setting with strong colours. After various photo stops we will finally reach Zagora, where we will spend the night. Dinner and overnight stay in Riad.

$

Day 8

After breakfast we will cross the largest millstone in all of Morocco, characterized by the presence of more than 10 million plants. We will visit the famous kasbah of Tamnougalt, which was the last “seat” of Pasha Gloui and we will cross the village of Agdez in the Anti Atlas, to finally arrive in Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight stay in Hotel / Riad.

$

Day 9

Early in the morning we will leave Ouarzazate, first stop at the UNESCO site of Ait Ben Haddou, whose famous kasbah has been the set of over 20 films including “Gladiator”, “Indiana Jones” and “Lawrence of Arabia”. We will admire and photograph the traditional Moroccan architectural style with which the Kasbahs are built. Continue to Marrakech through the High Atlas mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka pass. In the afternoon we will arrive in Marrakech and begin to discover the Medina. Overnight stay in Riad.
