When to go to Sri Lanka
The best time to visit Sri Lanka depends mainly on the areas you want to explore.
The western and southern coasts, along with the central hilly region, are at their best between January and February, when the Maha monsoon has given way to mostly sunny days and pleasant temperatures. It’s the ideal time to visit cities like Galle, relax on the beaches of the Indian Ocean, or explore the tea plantations of the highlands.
The east and north coasts, however, offer the best conditions between May and September, during the driest period. During these months, the sea is generally calmer, and the beaches on the east coast become the perfect destination for those seeking a combination of nature, relaxation, and photography.

One of Sri Lanka’s great strengths is the extraordinary variety of experiences it packs into a relatively compact territory.
